Built for the international Theater der Welt festival, a temporary hotel suite marks an inventive collaboration between Atelier Brueders and Raumlaborberlin. The paired-down interactive space situates inside a constantly changing, scenic, urban location. Offering event guests a unique experience, the freestanding room appears within the fruit and vegetable section of a wholesale facility. The vast warehouse space, chosen for its nightlife, awakens when the sun sets. Not a place for people looking to relax, the shelter instead provides a protective framework to view the urban choreography within the space. The hotel itself consists of three recycled, two-square meters skylights and a bed. From this partially exposed vantage point, daring guests confront a new view of the city complete with behind-the-scenes looks at restaurants, storefronts, and weekly markets.
